Directions To A-Bay - Hawaii Wedding Location

| On the map you can see -Hyatt Regency - then Royal Waikoloan. Just under Royal Waikoloan (now the Outrigger Waikoloa Hotel) is : Anaeho'omalu Bay. We call it A-Bay for short. I first discovered A-Bay when I was hired to photograph weddings at The Royal Waikoloan (now the Outrigger Waikoloa Hotel). You can save several hundred dollars by using A-Bay for free and spend the money on a romantic dinner at one of the wonderful restaurants nearby or in Kona. A-Bay is the best free location in Hawaii. |
There is only one highway that goes out along
the coast. Once on Kaahumanu Hwy just drive to the Waikoloa
turn off. There is a big sign that says Waikoloa. There are
many big hotels, golf coarse, condominiums and the Kings Shops here.
All are accessed from this one road off Kaahumanu Hwy. It takes 30 or 40 minutes
from Kona. It's a nice scenic drive - no stop lights.
A-Bay has it's own parking area that closes after sunset. Also there is scenic walkway starting at the Royal Waikoloan Hotel that ends at A- Bay. The Big Island is so peaceful compared to other Hawaiian Islands. With the money you save on the wedding you can visit another island too.
