This location is - in my opinion - as a photographer - as good as it gets. This area gets the best weather in Hawaii. It is protected from rain by the Huge mountains and gets sunsets all year long. Believe me - this is very rare. No one is going to tell you unless you ask .
During the day there is shade and places for my garden shots plus a big sandy beach and palm trees.
The weather is almost always nice. Even when it's raining and cloudy everywhere else I have seen beautiful clear weather and nice sunsets here. No wonder some of the best hotels in Hawaii have built in this area.
You can stay in Kona if you want very reasonable room rates. The rates out here where we do the Sunset Wedding Package are very high.

This couple booked a very expensive "Sunset"
Wedding Package at a Hotel. I could have told them they had zero
chance of seeing a sunset from this location.
However morning and afternoon weddings are very nice too. It's just that so many couples book "sunset" packages with little or no chance of a sunset at their location.
